About The Project

Introduction

The State Insurance Regulatory Authority (SIRA) partnered with FrontStage Digital to redevelop their website, www.sira.nsw.gov.au. This project aimed to enhance user experience and accessibility while integrating the NSW Government’s Digital Design System. The successful redevelopment delivered a modern, user-focused, and WCAG-compliant digital platform.

Objectives

Key objectives included:

  • Implementing a consistent and accessible design system.

  • Migrating content without disrupting links.

  • Ensuring WCAG 2.2 AA compliance.

  • Streamlining navigation and integrating Funnelback search.

Approach

FrontStage Digital adopted a structured approach:

  • Planning: Stakeholder alignment and task tracking via JIRA.

  • Design Integration: Applied NSW Design System elements to SIRA’s Figma files.

  • Development and Testing: Modular HTML/CSS/JS development and rigorous QA processes.

  • Content Migration: Preserved over 7,000 asset IDs during migration.

  • Handover: Provided training for SIRA’s content editors.

Addressing Complexities

  1. Decision Trees:

    • Created styles based on client-provided notes and tested in a separate Git repository.

    • Ensured seamless integration with the updated website.

  2. Long Documents:

    • Automated table of contents generation and rewrote JavaScript to match new designs.

    • Improved navigation for complex documents.

  3. Claims Management Guide:

    • Migrated content with preserved asset IDs and applied new designs.

    • Enhanced clarity and accessibility.

Results

The project was delivered on time and within budget, meeting all objectives. The website now offers improved navigation, accessibility, and a cohesive design.
